4/13/2023 0 Comments Reddit lastpass vs bitwardenWhen using LastPass it went down quite a bit in the year and a half I used it. ![]() That's the price of genuine, honest security. I don't know if it's true but it makes sense to me that because LastPass lets you use your phone number as a recovery method this makes your vault less secure while BitWarden does not allow for this. To me, LastPass checks off that polished vibe. If it looks simple or easy to use it likely is made by genuine, honest, authentic people that want you to have a pleasurable, non-stressful experience. ![]() Something I've learned in my computer travels is that if your product looks, for example, like something very polished or refined such as anything Apple, it's probably sketchy to say the least. I also switched because BitWarden is more cleanly. ![]() Open source means anyone can look at the code and see what's going on while the big corps generally don't allow for you to see what's going on in the background and so who knows what they're doing. I switched to BitWarden mainly because it's open source and I'm trying to support the open source community instead of the big corps. I never heard of any privacy issues on either bitwarden or lastpass, but having the software "open source" is a plus in my opinion, if you'd like to support the open source world go bitwarden, otherwise both services are really great, you can try both and see which interface you like more I guess. I only switched from lastpass to bitwarden cause its open source and I can host it myself, so if I ever decided I don't trust bitwarden to keep my data safe I can just take the software without their service and have it my way. I do prefer the lastpass mobile app, but also the bitwarden desktop app, its just matter of personal preference in my opinion. If you are a casual user, and not looking for a specific feature that only exists in one of the services it doesn't really matter, both share almost the same features, different interface but still quite similar.īoth got a browser extension, a desktop app, a mobile app, and they work great. ![]() I used Lastpass for years, switched to Bitwarden few months ago, Ill keep things short and tidy.
